Sa episode ng Kapamilya online talk show ni Toni Gonzaga na ‘I Feel U’ noong September 20, ikinuwento ni Leila kung gaano kabuti si Ogie bilang isang ama sa kanya.
Ani Leila, “You are a good dad. I think one thing that we as kids have to understand is that every parent is different. Every parent has their own struggles and strengths.”
Dagdag niya, “I kinda moved here comparing him to my mom because I grew up with my mom. And I realized after a while they are very different people and they give me different things. I have learned to appreciate you for all the things you give me and all the wisdom you give me. I never thought that you are a bad dad.”
Ibinahagi ni Leila na hindi umano nakalimutan ni Ogie na gawin ang mga responsibilidad nito kahit pa nasa Australia siya at nasa Pilipinas naman ito. Sa bawat mahahalagang okasyon kasi sa buhay ni Leila ay sinisikap ng singer-songwriter na nandoon siya para sa anak.
Aniya, “He made so much effort my whole life to be there for every single event, my graduation, all my birthdays, everything. He would make the effort no matter how expensive it was or no matter how hard it was with his schedule. So, I appreciate that.”
Sa parteng ito ng interview ay inamin ni Ogie sa host ng show na si Toni na mahirap para sa kanya na hindi umiyak habang pinakikinggan ang mensahe ng anak.
Sa huli ay sinabi ni Leila na walang sinumang makakapantay kay Ogie sa pagiging mabuting ama.
“You may think that you’re not doing enough. You may think that it’s not sufficient but you do a lot more than you know for me and you affect me a lot more than you know. I care about you so much. There’s a reason that I still continue to go to you for everything and it’s because what you give is unmatched by anyone else.”
Para naman kay Ogie, proud siya sa anak dahil lumaki itong mabuting tao sa kabila ng paghihiwalay nila ng ina nitong si Michelle van Eimeren.
Kwento ni Ogie, “Mahirap yung pinagdaanan ng panganay ko. She could have become a total rebel although you had that stage. But pwede siyang maging galit na galit lang sa akin. She could have done that. But I believe there is this real goodness in your heart which is a forgiving heart. Hindi ‘yun naa-acquire lang.
Mensahe ni Ogie sa anak, “You are very good. You are a good daughter, you are a good person.”
